Point of View

I am reading Street Love by Walter Dean Myers. My book is about two teenagers, who have big family dillemas but end up finding eachother to take away their worries. This novel is from many characters in the books point of View. The main characters are Damien and Junice, they are the main people in the point of view. The book, is in the form of poems to help the readers such as myself to understand the book better, and what is going on in the mind of the characters in the story. Also I personally think it makes the book more interesting and fun to read. So far in the book, Damien and Junice are two struggling teenagers, trying to keep their lives in line and free of any problems that may tear their families apart.

My Summer Reading Summary

I read two books over the summer. Both of the books I read were Young Adult novels. The first book I read was Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. It was about a girl starting her freshman year of highschool. She starts the year off with no friends, and her social life is ruined because of it. She goes through most of her highschool year alone, because of one secret that changed her life over the summer that she has kept bottled up inside her. Another book I read was called When I was Puerto Rican by Esmeralda Santiago. It is a memoir about a puerto rican girl and her life in Puerto Rico, and her growing up in Puerto Rico. Also her experience of what its like moving from one place to another. The memoir also talks about how she was brought up, and the rules she had to follow when she was a young girl.
